Food Intolerance and anti-aging

A key function of the immune system is fighting infection, however it is also responsible for regeneration and repair of tissues to help us stay looking and feeling young. Many people find that they start to suffer from food intolerance as they grow older. Eating foods to which you are intolerant to will become worse over a period of time and eventually the damage can become permanent. Food intolerance testing is based on the fact that when “problem foods” are consumed, the immune system sees these as toxins and can react in different ways to deal with this:

An inflammatory response may be stimulated, including the release of Food specific IgG antibodies, detected by a food intolerance test. Removing problem foods from the diet results in less of a burden being placed on the immune system, giving it time to deal with regeneration and repair of tissues which helps slow the aging process.
The body may also respond using water retention to dilute these toxins which can result in swollen legs and ankles and puffy eyes. Black circles under the eyes can be an indication of reduced detoxification capacity of the liver.

Inflammation is a major contributor to aging. Food intolerance produces an inflammatory response which may lead to symptoms such as bloating, puffy eyes, obesity, fatigue and skin problems including acne. By avoiding intolerant foods, the immune system can concentrate on repair and regeneration.
 

It has been shown that sites of inflammation are associated with increased free radical activity, and it is now accepted that symptoms of disease and the aging process are linked to free radical damage to cells in the body. Free radicals are produced naturally in our bodies on a daily basis and are important in helping neutralise bacteria and viruses as well as kill cancer cells.
 

However, over time and in the absence of sufficient anti-oxidants which are found in healthy foods, the body begins to accumulate excess free radicals and our system becomes overwhelmed, resulting in damage to our cells and degeneration.


Consequently identifying problem foods using a food intolerance test can reduce inflammation and stress on the body; improve diet and may be linked to a decrease in free radical damage to tissues and organs including skin, thus helping to arrest the visual signs of the anti-aging process.
